Fitz and the Tantrums

Fitz and The Tantrums – MoneyGrabber

Does anyone else hear a direct link to Hall & Oates in this track, “Moneygrabber?”  “Wow!”  That was my first thought when I heard this track.  Fitz definitely wears his influences on his sleeve.  From the first few notes, you get that soulful voice, reminiscent of the 80’s sound we all grew up with.  That must be the reason why they ended up on Live From Daryl’s House, doing a bunch of Hall and Oates covers, as well as a few of their soon to be hits.  I was hipped to this track through The Lefsetz Letter, and completely fell in love with it!  I felt like I had heard it before, and was told that WXRT (here in Chicago) is now playing it.  Either way, it feels a bit retro, while at the same time reminding me of that new Cee Lo vibe, that is going around.  It’s a great tune, and the bigger it gets, the easier the album will be to find.  Right now…not so much.  Check out Fitz and The Tantrums, “Picking Up The Pieces,” as they take the world by storm.
