Although I didn’t have last Thursday off, I did have the late shift. This left me with the first half of my day to go record shopping, which you all know is my favorite thing. On this day, I spent almost 40 minutes of my time, $22 dollars of my money, for 20 CD’s. I think the best find of the whole bunch was a full length disc by the band Cold Water Flat. The ten songs on this self titled disc just flat out rock, and their style is reminiscent of Buffalo Tom. That’s because the lead singer of Cold Water Flat is the brother of the lead singer from Buffalo Tom. Otherwise, these finds are all over the board; some great, and some I never even heard, but just heard of. Live’s “Mental Jewelry” was another amazing album, which broke them, eventually making them huge. I will never forget the video for the song “Mental Jewelry,” it still haunts me in my dreams, and getting a back up copy for $1 was a great find for me. The rest of the selections will be mentioned in future posts to come, I kid you not. But with the Cut Out Kid working so many gruesome double shifts, it’s been hard to post anything lately. Please bare with me, as I move through this thing called life.
