The annual “Monster mash” with Murphy’s Law

Every year on this day I head downstairs and search through my monster CD collection to find the punk rock, fun loving cover of “Monster Mash” by Murpyh’s Law. This version appears nowhere else except on CD, so sadly, it’s not streamable, and maybe that’s why it’s such a treat. There are two other songs on the EP, “Beer Bath,” and “Big Spliff,” which also appear on the Relativity Records release, The Best Of Times.

As a kid, I would watch friends perform covers of Murphy’s Law songs and started purchasing their albums on cassette and CD. I mention cassette because at the time, I could only find certain albums of theirs in that format. The “Monster Mash” EP was one of the first CDs I bought from the band, and that’s probably another reason why it’s so important to me and the Halloween holiday.

I would love to know the story behind this incredibly fun EP and how the band came to cover this classic song, and why it’s not available to stream or listen to anywhere else? If you know the band or the story and want to add anything, please reach out!
