I heard a bit of nostalgia today as WGN went to commercial break. These lyrics came through the speakers: “Since you went away I’ve been hanging around/I’ve been wondering why I’m feeling down.” Then, as quickly as the memories rushed into my brain, the song faded into commercial obscurity. I was instantly transported back to a time when I would walk to the local record store, then called The Platter Plus, and use all the money I saved that week to buy three ‘45’s for $4.99! If Archie and Edith could hear me now, I would sing to them, “Those were the days!” I scoured the airwaves as a kid, and would choose very carefully my 3 favorite singles. I was an 80’s pop music lover, and I still am. I LOVED this chorus, and it will haunt me for days to come. By the way, that song was sung by the Pet Shop Boys. Do you remember it?
