Neko Case has a gorgeous voice; do I even need to add that she is a gorgeous woman? Another one of those songs that owned a corner of my mind in 2010, was “People Got A Lotta Nerve.” Could be one of the greatest pop gems to come along in awhile, that’s how addicting it is.

The majority of her latest album Middle Cyclone is pretty mellow, but very cohesive. I like her quieter acoustic moments like “The Next Time You Say Forever,” and “Magpie To The Morning,” but my favorite parts are when she lets loose and sings over the upbeat numbers. “This Tornado Loves You,” is another example of just that.
There are definitely times where an album like this is needed throughout the year. Neko’s voice is good for soothing the soul, and the twangy tear in her heart can be just what the doctor ordered. This album came out 2009, but I fell in love with it in 2010. And now it’s 2011…and she’s working on new stuff. Oh well, like I previously stated, brevity is a new goal for me. How about timeliness?
