The French Kicks “Close To Modern”

Love me some French Kicks, and look what’s in the dollar bin? An out of print “Young Lawyers” EP, and full length “One Time Bells” album.  How sweet it is, sort of like the song!  You guessed it, a dollar each, too!  You should have seen the smile on my face.  If you see any of these French Kicks discs in the cut outs’, you must rescue them!  “Wrong Side” was such a great tune, that if you just bought “One Time Bells” for that single, you would still be making out like a bandit!  But get a listen to “Close To Modern,” and feel the swing of the rhythm.  The pulsating bass line sits right inside that hi-hat drumming, while the crooning by vocalist Nick Stumpf hovers just above the music.  The little falsetto flourishes throughout the chorus will have you snapping fingers and moving feet.  The best $2 I spent in a while.
