And your ears shall hear…

Patience Skinny Love

I was sitting at home drinking a double IPA from Short’s Brew,  called “The Liberator” a few nights ago, and Jools Holland has on Bon Iver.  Bon plays a song called “Skinny Love,” and I almost fall off my seat!!!!  He starts screaming:

And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And in the morning I’ll be with you
But it will be a different kind
And I’ll be holding all the tickets
And you’ll be owning all the fines

and I nearly dropped my beer!  Initial thought: HOLY SHIT, this is frigging awesome!  2nd thought: all the hype was right! 3rd thought: that line about the tickets and the fines…awesome!  I got cold chills!  It was weird, almost felt like I wanted to cry, I could hear the dudes pain.  Really striking, and that’s why I love music, for that reason right there; the raw emotion.  Sometimes you miss the boat…and sometimes you get in right away.

    Hey Adam I stumbled across your blog after seeing some email from Myspace giving me friend updates. Thing is, I haven’t logged into Myspace in awhile. So anyway, I clicked on one of your Twitpics, then your blog.
    First of all, congrats for getting a job at WGN…that’s awesome! Secondly, I absolutely love Bon Iver…I discovered around last may after hearing the song Creature Fear. I LOVE Skinny Love too.
    So, wanted to let you know that you have excellent taste in music…as usual…since I met you.
    I hope you’re doing well, unfortunately I’m still sick. IT REALLY sucks! I’m not working…my whole life revloves around my illness and docors. I desperately want to get better…I would have never predicted becoming so sick at 26…now I’m 28…
    My advice is to live each day to its fullest and take nothing for granted…try to even enjoy work (I definitely miss it).
