Yep, back at it again, with another prize from the dumpster dive! This time with Lloyd Cole, and his “Morning Is Broken” single, off of the Bad Vibes disc. You can categorize this baby in the same category as the Julian Cope CD (that I just blaahged about), “Albums That I Should’ve Bought In The 90’s.” Lloyd Cole has had singles in and out of the charts since I can remember, but this, along with “She’s A Girl and I’m On Man,” is my favorite. “The sun goes down and now the shadows arise/And morning is broken as you mourn your life/You smile at your neighbors as you lock your doors/You face up the mirror, mister pimp or whore.” I couldn’t find the real video that hooked me back in the day, but here are a few live clips to give you started…crank the volume on the ’93 version, and you’ll get an idea of why I dig this tune.
