Marr in the House, er Crib…

The CribsCheat On Me

Let it be known that the Smiths are probably my favorite band.  There are many that have come before and after that I love, but they left an everlasting impression.  Since their break up at the end of the 80’s, Morrissey has put out a lot of great music, and Johnny Marr has been in a lot of good bands and done some solo work himself.  I had heard a rumor that he has left Modest Mouse and was playing with the Cribs, now it seems that is no longer a rumor.  Johnny Marr can be seen in this new video jamming and singing back up for the Cribs, and it is not a bad sound.  I am not professing a new love, but it sounds like a more mature band with his presence.  I really liked the Cribs initially, though they sounded more like the Strokes on their first few records.  Now I would say that they sort of have their own sound, which is a good thing.  I hope it becomes even more developed as they continue working toward their fall release “Ignore The Ignorant.”   The newly rejuvenated Cribs should be something to watch out for when they drop their fourth record.

Here’s a little taste of their last record, which was great, and you can hear the difference in the two singles/sounds…
