Hospital Beds

Cold War Kids, “Hospital Beds

This week a friend of mine, who also happens to be an inspired music reviewer, sent me an EP entitled “A Lot Of Love, A Lot Of Blood,” by a band called Florence and the Machine.  I had previously heard their newest single “Rabbit Heart” and was smitten with it.  But, realizing that their debut LP “Lungs” had yet to be released, I went back to find the earlier stuff, which is usually my first step toward addiction.  The EP “A Lot Of Love…” instantly hooked me with it’s great female vocals and inherent poppiness, and the catchy rhythms, that sometimes border on electronic, didn’t hurt.  This EP is a great effort from a new band unafraid to take risks, but the coolest part of this EP was getting to the end and hearing their cover of “Hospital Beds,” a song originally done by the Cold War Kids.  I have always loved that song by the CWK, but how cool was it to hear a female do this song; I will let you decide below.  I’m sure you know how I feel…
